Frequently Asked Questions
Is SuperStart a weight-loss product?
SuperStart is an ideal breakfast cereal as part of a healthy weight loss program or diet. There are a number of weight loss and management benefits that a healthy breakfast of SuperStart provides:
- Low glycemic index (GI). SuperStart is indexed at 32 when consumed with low fat milk so is ideal for a low Gi diet.
- High in protein, 16.6%. Many breakfast cereals are low in protein. Apart from protein’s vital nutritional function, it aids weight loss by helping to keep you feeling fuller for longer.
- High fibre, 13.3%. Fibre is an essential for healthy weight loss or management. It also helps satisfy hunger.
- Low carbohydrate, 44.5%. Many breakfast cereals are very high in carbs. Carbs burn relatively quickly by the body and this can lead to feelings of hunger just a few short hours after consumption.
- Low sugar, 2.1%. Sugar’s role in weight gain and obesity is well-known. What’s less well-known is how many so-called weight loss products and healthy foods have high levels of refined sugar. The popular inclusion of dried fruit in breakfast cereals can mean the sugar quantity can reach 25%.
- All natural, unrefined ingredients. Ingredients as close to their natural state like those found in SuperStart are rich in macro and micro nutrients. The same cannot be said for many processed, packaged products and cereals, even those in the weight loss aisle.
Is there any added sugar in SuperStart?
None. There is just 2.1% sugar in SuperStart breakfast cereal and all of this is naturally occurring in the ingredients. There is no added sugar.
Who tested SuperStart’s Glycemic Index (GI) level?
SuperStart was tested independently by Diabetes Australia. When consumed with low fat milk the test revealed an index of 32. This makes SuperStart fall into the low GI band which is any ’score’ under 55. SuperStart is therefore a relevant product to be included in a low GI diet.
